22nd Anniversary Church Service

Each year, the Diocese celebrates its anniversary using a different theme. This year, the theme was The Christian Family. In keeping with the theme, the church service was led by children from the various Child Development Centres (CDCs) and parish Sunday Schools. The centres represented were:
Maliba CDC Kyempara CDC
Muzahura CDC Ndongo CDC
Kajwenge CDC Nyamughasana CDC
Kyalhumba CDC Kabatunda CDC
Kasese CDC Nyabugando CDC

The day started off with a Jesus March from town to the building site of the new St. Paul's cathedral. Sermons were two in number; one was preached by a young boy by the name of Ibrahim Kirindiro, and the second was preached by a young girl by the name of Eseza Mukonzo. Ibrahim challenged parents to live an exemplary life, and to teach their children in love. Eseza encouraged the listeners to be hopeful, persevere, and live in love with one another. The two children were commissioned as Lay Evangelists at the end of the service.

Below is a pictorial display of some of the highlights of the day. Click on the images to see the full sized photo.

Imagine being called to church services by African drums! The arrival of the Jesus March from downtown Kasese to the cathedral.

Over 700 adults listened to the preaching of the children. The lesson was read by Sam Mumbere from St. Peter's Church Kibalya in Kilembe.

Each of the children's groups performed singing, dancing or some sort of skit. The favorite was a skit depicting the mass weddings put on by St. Paul's Sunday School. The girls wore adult sized wedding dressings, which were all quite dirty at the bottom.
