Raise the Roof in Rwenzori

South Rwenzori Diocese in the Rwenzori Region of Western Uganda requests a helping hand in the roofing of a community multipurpose building in Kasese Town. The building will have several rooms designed for different functions such as voluntary counseling and testing of HIV/AIDS (VCT), a resource room for women, for youth, for worship, and learning for children. The area was badly hit by Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) insurgency (1996 - 2001) which left the community economically impoverished.

The Diocese of South Rwenzori is deeply involved in the struggles against HIV/AIDS activities in the Rwenzori region.

Journey with us in time, as we follow the construction of the new St. Paul’s cathedral, beginning with the original plans in June of 2005.

18^th August 2005

We are, today, putting up trusses on our new huge cathedral building. We are all excited. Pray for us that we shall be able to get money for the 350 pieces of iron sheets needed.

Dear partners, friends and well-wishers,

Roofing work is in progress at St. Paul’s New Cathedral Building, South Rwenzori Diocese. We have roofed one wing out of four and we shall purchase more iron sheets as we receive more contributions from our local congregations and partners like you.

Our target is to have all the wings roofed by December 25, 2005. Each iron sheet costs 55 USD [about 32 GB pounds]. We need 250 more pieces

Christmas services were held at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Christmas Day. Many of the roofing panels have been installed, thanks to donations from our partners in the USA and the UK.
